What is Roller Derby?
Roller derby is a full-contact sport played on roller skates. Two teams of five skaters each compete in a series of two-minute jams, during which each team tries to score points by having their designated scoring player (the jammer) lap members of the opposing team. The game is played on an oval track, and players must skate both offensively and defensively to help their jammer score, while also trying to stop the opposing jammer from scoring.
But roller derby is more than just a game. It’s a community of passionate athletes who come together to support and challenge one another both on and off the track. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or just starting out, there’s a place for you in the world of roller derby.
